Tons of these CDRs have been burned and sent out over the year, and have, hopefully, helped to spread the word about what Ad Noiseam is about.

We’ve decided to open these compilations to all the visitors of the Ad Noiseam website: from now on, you can download a CD-length free mp3 compilation containing a selection of tracks from current CDs and records on the label. We might throw some forthcoming material from times to times, and the current “Spring 2009” edition features a video trailer prepared by Larvae for their “white label” DVD .

We hope that this compilation will help everybody to discover some new artists and tracks, or present a broader image of Ad Noiseam to people who are familiar with only part of the roster. Again, all these tracks are taken from currently available releases. The full tracklisting is below.

This compilation can be downloaded in bandwidth-friendly resolution (but still ok quality) here . Note, however, that if you want to say a little thank you for this, you can purchase a much higer-resolution version here , for a very reduced price (5 Euro for E.U. residents, 4.20 Euro for everybody else). Part of this sum is given to Amnesty International (as we always do with digital releases ), and the rest is divided between the artists and the label. Therefore: you can check out some new sound for free, but you can also support the people who made them possible.” - Ad Noiseam

SEVERAL CDATAKILL RELEASES NOW AVAILABLE AT JUNO DOWNLOAD

Several of the cdatakill releases for the Ad Noiseam label are now available in high-quality MP3 formats at Juno Download, including Paradise, The Cursed Species, Valentine and others.
While they’re still best known to their respective mothers as Marty Frank and Zak Roberts, Abelcain and Cdatakill have both reached a point where they’re considered ‘veterans’ of the US breakcore scene, having released impressive backcatalogues through labels such as Sublight and Low Res. This shared album release ‘Passage’ on Ad Noiseam follows in the wake of Abelcain and Cdatakill’s collaborative ‘Bleeding Hearts’ 12” series of 2007, and collects together tracks from the duo’s 2002 collaborative release ‘Six Stigmata’ on Zhark International, alongside their remix ‘vs.’ EP ‘Playing With Knives’ on Low Res of the same year, and a further four previously unreleased contemporary remixes. While other recent breakcore-oriented releases on Ad Noiseam by The Teknoist and Sickboy have focussed upon the ‘cartoon’ aspects of the genre via tongue-in-cheek sampling, as this sprawling 70 minute collection illustrates, Abelcain & Cdatakill both cast a distinctly more dry and dystopian slant on proceedings.

In truth there’s precious little ‘light’ to be found here. Abelcain’s opening ‘Kissing Ice’ gives good indication as to the sort of ferocious aesthetic that predominates here, fusing fussilades of distorted trashcan junglist breakbeats with cascades of eerie minor-key piano trills in a manner that calls to mind a seriously pissed-off Squarepusher, while ‘The Dream People Call Human Life’ matches storms of drill and bass Amen breaks with ominous choir samples and fragments of off-key orchestration. Indeed, it’s no real surprise to find out that Abelcain’s previously released unofficial remixes of Skinny Puppy, as it’s that outfit’s fusion of the furiously percussive and distorted with moments of unexpected sonic beauty that’s perhaps most frequently called to mind here. Elsewhere, sidetrips into yawning dark ambience and vast industrial samples on tracks such as ‘Canto V’ and ‘Isabella’ manage to be equally, if not more terrifying and foreboding than their more bpm-loaded counterpoints, simply because they hint at so much understated darkness. As for the four new tracks, they manage to provide another impressive bonus into the bargain, with tracks such as ‘Raining Glass’ even revealing the influence of hiphop in their midtempo breakdown sections. While the unrelenting nature of this expansive collection may prove too much for some listeners in its entirety, on the whole ‘Passage’ impresses.

Machinist review of Passage (in Russian)

review originally posted here.

Dagheisha.com review of Passage (in Italian)

Review originally posted here.

DIGITAL DOWNLOADS NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH AD NOISEAM

As if dismantling the studio and moving into the huge new cdatakill/Black Collar Crime House Of Shred wasn’t enough of a shock to the system, we’re further being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century as made apparent by…hold on…wait for the drumroll…LEGAL MP3’s!!
“All good things are three: Abelcain and Cdatakill, two of the most essential breakcore act to have ever graced this scene, pair up once again on “Passage”, a full length CD presenting for the first time their tracks from the “Six Stigmata” and “Playing with Knives” record, enriched by four new collaborations. Hard-hitting, highly varied and presenting anew some cornerstone material of the breakcore sound, “Passage” is a mandatory release not only for fans of these two veterans, but for anybody who intends on understanding what breakcore is about.

Tracklisting:
01. Abelcain: Kissing Ice
02. Abelcain: This Dream People Call Human Life
03. Abelcain: Canto V
04. Cdatakill: Izabella
05. Cdatakill: Falling From The Sky
06. Cdatakill: Respirator
07. Cdatakill: Nothing Can Damn My Soul (remix by Abelcain)
08. Abelcain: Faust (remix by Cdatakill)
09. Cdatakill: Imperial Passage (remix by Abelcain)
10. Abelcain: Aguirre, der Zorn Gottes (remix by Cdatakill)
11. Cdatakill: Raining Glass (remix by Abelcain)
12. Cdatakill: Tornado Sirens (remix by Abelcain)
13. Abelcain: Musica Domestica (remix by Cdatakill)
14. Abelcain: Black Bone Orchid (remix by Cdatakill)

Following 2007’s two collaborative 12” (“Bleeding Hearts vol 1 and 2”, adn82 & adn83), Cdatakill invites another fiendish friend to Ad Noiseam, this time his long-time partner and co-shredder Abelcain. Both acts, which are among the very few veterans of the American breakcore scene to be still active, have finally given birth to a full length CD, which present their repeated collaborations over the years. “Passage” is the long awaited release on CD of two split 12” by these two acts (released by Zhark Intl and Low Res in 2002) and four new tracks written specially for this project.

Armed with a decade of beats and rhythms shattering, Cdatakill and Abelcain have both matured, but look back dearly at their first collaborations. “Passage” opens with three tracks written by each musician, in which Marty Frank (Abelcain) presents his staccato drumming and sudden breaks, while Zak Roberts (Cdatakill) already leave space for some dark sci-fi soundscapes between his breakcore avalanches. These tracks are followed by four from the “Playing With Knives” 12”, in which some of each acts’ best known tracks are remixed by the other one (such as Abelcain’s hard hitting “Faust” or Cdatakill’s epic “Imperial Passage”). Finally, let’s fast forward six years to 2008 and see what sort of new treatment Abelcain and Cdatakill reserved to each other’s material. The first hasn’t slowed down his tempo a bit, and adds some extra oomph to two tracks taken from Cdatakill’s moody “Valentine” album. Fucking great to catch up and kick it, especially because those guys live up in the mountains and i’m down near the city and we don’t get to hang out all that often. it was also really great to catch up with Dirk, who i met years ago when i first came to Madison to play a show. he’s a really nice, stand up guy who goes out of his way to make people feel welcome and comfortable in his home. man, this guy was a saint this weekend. i don’t think i could’ve been as patient and chill as he was with all the insanity going on in his house. even when he had to toss someone out for being a total disrespectful retard he was a million times cooler than i would have been. everybody who was involved with the parties in Madison this weekend owes Dirk a huge thanks and a bunch of respect! this trip made me realize that while i’m relatively isolated where i live, i have a bunch of really great friends scattered all over the country, fuck, even all over the world when i think about it..

i stayed at Dirk’s house, as did 30-40 other people. seriously, that house was a zoo, but in a good, old-fashined, punk-rock sorta way (depending on who you ask). i finally met DJ Fishead after years of listening to this pillar of the scene. really cool guy, incredible DJ. crews from Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, LA, Ohio, and a few others all converged at Dirk’s cool little house in the quiet suburbs of Madison. it did not stay quiet very long. once all these people settled into their tents in the backyard, claimed their floor space for sleeping (Wally and I claimed our couches in the living room and made sure no other fools tried to steal our much coveted spots), and once everybody introduced themselves and got their smoke and drink lined up the party was on. somebody was laptop DJ’ing off of Dirk’s stereo, playing some heavy breakcore shit as loud as possible which kept the house raging. people got wasted, people got naked (some nakedness was less welcome than others’), luckily the cops never showed up. you know it was a good party when the next morning looks like the Jonestown Massacre.

the Anti-Mass show the next night was really good. a lot of great artists i haven’t seen live before really tore it up, got the crowd moving in the Inferno, a club i played years ago when i first came to Madison. Baseck destroyed the club with his electro-gameboy set. also, look out for Stagediver, his set was killer and know that guy’s on his way up. i had a lot of fun playing my set, although at some points the monitors would cut out so i couldn’t really hear everything i was mixing. i had to operate on a lot of guess work, but it seemed to work out in the end. people were dancing and told me they enjoyed the set so that’s all the really matters. i finally got to meet Loren (Slutmachine) and Dolores Dewberry face to face, who are really great people, i can’t say enough nice stuff about them. Loren and i have decided to collaborate on some new tracks together, so watch out for some combined Slutmachine/cdatakill evilness in the future!

as for the Schizophrenia show the night after Anti-Mass, all i can say is FUCK!!!!!!!! yeah, it was THAT good. just look at the poster, the line-up says it all. 100%, pure diesel-powered, grade-A sets from EVERYBODY on the bill. 9pm to 6am full-tilt insanity. it was so hot in the venue that the ceiling rained down the condensation from everyone dancing, thrashing around and sweating their asses off. it was like walking into a cloud of noise and sweat. not for the faint of heart.

and make no mistake. Abelcain played the single greatest set i have ever seen. period. jaw-dropping intensity and intricacy that should be forcing all producers to go back to the drawing board. i am not exaggerating. this party was one for the history books.

Schizophrenia was such a good time, and i think it could have only happened in the midwest, where they have a history of great parties/raves. this could have never happened in Denver. the crowd came from all over and the party had such a nice atmosphere. everywhere i turned there was someone cool i wanted to talk to, the music was always killer, there was even a cute security guard who could bust your head open with kung-fu if she needed to!

i’m tired of typing right now, i might write more on this weekend, but not now. so much went down, all good. if you weren’t there, you missed out.

Banilla rules your face

take note: Stonyfield Farm’s (or something like that) Banilla yogurt rules your face. what is Banilla you ask? it’s banana and vanilla and tastes like the most awesome thing you’ve ever eaten times ten when you mash up a bunch of Nilla Wafers and mix it all together. fucking awesome. this is all thanks to a late night grocery run in Madison, Wisconsin courtesy of my buddies Wally and Dirk. i think we bought out the whole store.. damn, one can get some awesome food out here in the heartland, these people know how to eat.

btw, i’m playing Anti-Mass 2 tonight along with an awesome lineup of other artists. check the flyer fool!
